Yes. GeoPlan can be used as a database management and document
management program without any mapping in place. Of course GeoPlan's GIS
functionality would not be available until your map layers are installed.
No. Because of ESRI's MapObjects, GeoPlan's mapping is
built-in and does not require you to have any external mapping software.
However, if you already have ArcView or want to add it, GeoPlan's design makes
it easy for you to move from GeoPlan to ArcView and back.
No. GeoPlan will use the same GIS map layers that you use in
ArcView.
No. GeoPlan's setup procedures are used to define your

customized for your municipality. The setup procedure also lets you specify
default symbolization (line types, point symbols, colors) for each layer. And
you can easily add new layers or remove layers.
Yes. You can establish a link to your GeoPlan tables.
Yes! GeoPlan was explicitly designed to eliminate the
need to send every database query, report, or map request to the information
systems or GIS expert. GeoPlan is used daily by front-desk
receptionists, municipal managers, building inspectors, planning directors,
and even temporary interns to browse, query, and edit the database, enter
operational data, generate reports, and produce maps.
A typical implementation takes about two months to format the
databases, install map layers, and perform the initial customization for your
municipality.
Yes. A set of standard reports is included with GeoPlan, but
most municipalities also want to have reports designed specifically for them.
Microsoft Access and Word can be used to customize report and form-letter

or you can design them yourself.
Yes. GeoPlan provides a number of user-definable data fields
that you can use. Also, GeoPlan accommodates custom-designed forms:
special-purpose data forms can be designed and logged into GeoPlan's form
library so that they will appear in the appropriate application module.
Yes. RPT assists in installing and configuring GeoPlan at your
site.
GeoPlan's reporting requires Microsoft Access. Word is
required to generate mail-merged form letters. GeoPlan's main toolbar
includes buttons that will also launch Excel and PowerPoint sessions from
within GeoPlan, but they are not required in order to run GeoPlan. Most
GeoPlan users license Microsoft Office Professional Edition which includes
all of these programs. |
