GeoPlan provides a full suite of applications for managing municipal operations. This page describes the Contacts Manager.

Organize Data on Contractors and Vendors

GeoPlan's Contacts Manager enables you to organize data for a wide range of municipal contacts. GeoPlan lets you assign categories to each contact to indicate the type of services provided, such as developer, surveyor, engineer, consultant, supplier, etc. These categories are used to filter the contacts list to appropriately populate drop-down menus for data entry whenever you need to enter a developer or surveyor's name in other GeoPlan activity modules.

Streamline Data Entry

When you add a contact to the Contacts Manager, the detail information from the contact record is available for instant entry whenever you select the name of the contact in another activity module. This eliminates redundant data entry, and, because the contact names you enter into the Contacts Manager automatically appear in drop-down menus elsewhere in GeoPlan, typing and spelling errors are eliminated during data entry.

Moreover, if you enter an unrecognized name into a contacts-filtered field in any of GeoPlan's activity modules, GeoPlan notices, and will automatically launch the Contacts Manager to let you add data for the new contact. Another valuable feature occurs during Permit issuance. GeoPlan can be setup to require updated contractor license or insurance data for permit issuance. When you add a new permit record, GeoPlan checks the Contacts Manager to determine that the contractor you specify has current coverage.

Integrated Email and Web Navigation

GeoPlan even makes it easier for you to communicate with your contractors. Appearing next to the email and web address fields on the Contacts data page are tool buttons that automatically launch an email session, or navigate to the contact's web site, conveniently from within the Contacts Manager module.

The Contacts Manager provides a convenient way to organize data about the various companies and individuals providing services to or within your municipality.

Emailing from Contacts Page
Click the email or web navigation tool on the contact's data page to send email to or visit the Web site of a contact. GeoPlan automatically launches a session and supplies the appropriate address.

Drop-Down Data Entry Data from the Contacts Manager is used to populate drop-down menus for data entry elsewhere in GeoPlan, like adding the surveyor name to a new subdivision record, as shown above.
