What's New in GeoPlan Version 5.0
GeoPlan
Version 5.0 was designed in close collaboration with you - municipal
professionals who use GeoPlan daily and rely on it to organize and manage your
work. Many of the new features described below are a direct result of your suggestions.
New Database Management Features
|
Track Actions in all Planning Modules |
In
addition to the action tabs currently in the Permits and Code Violation
modules, new action tabs have been added to the Requests for Services,
Subdivisions, and Zoning Appeals modules. The action tabs let you track
multiple action items for any one record. |
|
Enhanced Data Grids |
The data
grids used to display columnar data have been enhanced to allow sorting by
column, resizing, re-ordering, printing, and exporting to text and HTML table
formats. |
|
Modified Find in Permits and Approvals |
The Find
function in the Permits and Approvals module now mirrors the Find
function in the other modules. This includes the ability to search for
permits using a customized query that you define. |
|
Save Search Queries |
The Find
window includes a new tool that lets you save a custom query for future use. |
|
Enhanced Scheduler |
The
scheduler has been completed revised. Version 5.0's scheduler lets you, with
defined permissions, view actions associated with all planning modules.
Previously, only actions from the Permits module were displayed. In addition,
individual meetings, and to-do items can be added to the scheduler. |
New
Mapping Features
|
The
enhanced mapping in GeoPlan uses the recently released Map Objects 2.0 from
ESRI. This enables GeoPlan to offer feature-rich integrated mapping. Here are
some of the new features. |
|
|
Control Map Layering |
Version
5.0 gives you the ability to control the order in which map layers are drawn. |
|
Zoom to Selected Area |
A new
tool button allows you to zoom to selected features. This automatically
adjusts the map view to include all members of the current selection set. |
|
Improved Buffering |
When you
perform a spatial select using the buffer tool, the buffer zone will be
delineated on the map. |
|
Unique Values Mapping |
In
GeoPlan 5.0 you can apply symbolization to map features based on unique data
values. You can use this feature to color-code parcels based on their zoning
classification, or map sanitary pipes using varying line widths to represent
pipe width, as just two examples. |
|
Enhanced Labeling |
Version
5.0 lets you label map features using values from any item from the feature's
data table. You can also specify fonts and colors, rotation, masking and
scalable font sizing. |
|
Define and Save Map Specifications |
Version
5.0 enables you to define default map preferences, as well as save setup
specifications for ad hoc maps. |
|
Address Locator |
Use the
Address tool on the mapping toolbar to enter a street address and GeoPlan 5.0
will locate the site on your map. |
|
Map CAD and ArcInfo Layers |
Geo-referenced
CAD drawings, ESRI ArcInfo files, and Mr. SID files
can now be directly used as GeoPlan map layers. This is in addition to the
standard ArcView shape file layers. |
New
Document Management Features
|
Interface to External Scanner |
GeoPlan's
own interface controls your Twain-complaint scanners. Previously, GeoPlan
launched the specified scanner's software. Having one internal software
interface will enable you to use a variety of scanners without having to
learn multiple interfaces. |
|
Compressed TIFF |
GeoPlan
stores documents as TIFF files. A new function allows these files to be
compressed to reduce their size. |
|
Enhanced Text and Annotation Functions |
Document
Management in Version 5.0 gives you enhanced ability to add text and
annotation to your scanned images. |
New
Support Features
|
Expanded Help System |
Version
5.0 includes a Help System that has been redesigned to make it easy for you
to get overview information about each GeoPlan module as well as step-by-step
instructions for performing specific tasks. |
